Ghetto outta here

Ghetto outta here

From one religious holiday to another-¦ or dare I call Mardi Gras religious after last month’s ruckus? Oh dear. Who would’ve thought?

Perhaps then I won’t mention the many hours I spent this Easter trawling through pictures of the hot boys competing in San Fransisco’s The Spunky Jesus competition. That was recognising the true spirit for the public holiday-¦ wasn’t it?

Enough religious banter – let’s get onto what’s important -“ me.
Again. Yes again. I’m going to bang the Western Sydney drum.
By now we all know that there are only three regular social dances left in the West that are GLBT friendly -“ Bubblegum, Dolphins and Heaven.

How is this possible? Why only three left? Who knows. Was it poor management? Was it poor shows? Was it poor music? Was it too many heteros? What do you think?

I don’t know. But what I do know is that all the events (past and present) are held as private functions in a -˜straight venue’ because they are the only people/clubs who will have us.

Do they let us use their facilities free? Of course not -“ don’t be silly. Do they give us an entertainment budget? Of course not -“ don’t be silly. So instead we charge an entry fee. Which people bitch and whinge about. How do you win? If you have a suggestion or a rich sugar daddy to help us -“ let me know.

So come one, come all to celebrate the launch of Heaven Social Groups new show Legends of Music on April 12 at the Rosehill Bowling Club. It’s been worth the wait.

Also, outside the Ghetto is The Polly’s Club. Still going strong after almost 44 years, and on April 19 they will celebrate another spectacular dance and raise even more money for HIV/AIDs charities.

Drag Gossip: Your Westy Diva’s have gone from four to eight, to God knows how many. Not only have some cast members now become special guests, but the remaining Westy Divas have become so stressed that waist lines have soared.

Poor old Lola, she was a showgirl, with yellow feathers in her hair and a dress ripped down to there -¦ Fortunately they’ve still managed to donate over $1000 to the Western Suburbs Haven.

Until next time gorgeous!
