twenty10YOUNG people will now have the opportunity to receive free and confidential health advice and treatment at a new primary health care at Twenty10.

Having opened its doors for the first time this week, the clinic aims to provide primary healthcare, information and referral for young people of diverse genders, sexes and sexualities up to the age of 26.

The clinic, which was launched in partnership with the Kirketon Road Centre, will be open every Tuesday afternoon and offer patients and clients help with everything from sexual health, drug and alcohol support and hormone shots, to the common cold.

Twenty10’s executive director, Brett Paradise, told the Star Observer research showed that young LGBTI people were less likely to seek assistance for health issues from mainstream providers when compared to their peers.

“Research and our experience has should that young people of diverse sex, gender our sexuality engage less with the mainstream health services, which can have some long term negative impacts to their wellbeing,” Paradise said.

“At Twenty10 we are confident that having Kirketon Road Centre staff utilising our Clinic Room will remove some of the barriers young people experience.”

Appointments for a specific time during the clinic’s opening hours can also be made by contacting Twenty10 throughout the week.

Tweny10 is a community based, non profit state-wide organisation that works with and supports LGBTI people aged 26 and under, their families and friends.

INFO: The clinic will be open every Tuesday from 3-5pm at Twenty10’s headquarters at Level 1, 45 Chippen Street, Chippendale.
