Honour Awards are your business

The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Business Association (SGLBA) and ACON are partnering to present a business award as part of the 2010 ACON Honour Awards.

The 2010 Honour Business Award will be presented at the awards on September 30 and will be chosen from among the five winners of the SGLBA Business Awards held on August 24.

ACON CEO Nicolas Parkhill said he was looking forward to the revamped Honour Awards night.

“There are many business people within the GLBT community who achieve outstanding success and there are many commercial organisations which make significant contributions to the GLBT community,” he said.

“The 2010 Honour Business Award is a new way of profiling and celebrating the work of these people and organisations.

“A forum like the Honour Awards enables us to showcase not only business excellence within our community but also the pride and confidence that the business sector in general has in its relationship with the GLBT community.”

SGLBA president Paul Lee-Maynard said, as with the SGLBA awards, the Honour Business Award was a great way to raise the profile of people from the GLBT community involved in business.

“We see this as a great opportunity to recognise not just our own members but also those in the wider GLBT community,” Lee-Maynard said.

The SGLBA Business Awards are open to both SGLBA members and people from the wider community. Nominations for both the SGLBA Business Awards and ACON Honour Business Award must be received by Monday, 16 August.
