I make music to fuck to, Seany B declares.
And there’s no question, Seany B’s tracks are downright sexy. But just how the songwriter fuses electro and hip-hop to generate sex appeal is a bit of a mystery even for Seany B.
I guess I’m a sexual person. I don’t try to lace anything in my lyrics or my songs. I’ve tried so many times in my youth to sit down and write something groundbreaking or sexy or funny or clever or deep, but once you try to get deep, you’re no longer getting deep because you’re using your head and not your heart, he said.
Writing a good song is like falling in love with someone. If you’re looking and you’re making that person into what you want them to be, you’re going to turn around six months later and realize that person is not real.
The only things that come out of me are stuff that I’ve recorded in a moment of clarity.
The past year must have been a long moment of clarity because this hip-house Casanova, who made his name in collaboration with TV Rock, has laid down a new album.
And if B Good 2 Me, the single that he just released as a little foreplay teaser, is anything to go by this next album promises to take his musical hybrid to the next level, bringing the sensuality of hip-hop, the energy of electro and the humanity of songwriting together into something that gets people’s attention on the dance floor.
This album, from the intro to the outro and everything in between, is a little journey, B said.
Your toe starts tapping, then your knee start jolting, your head starts nodding, then you start shaking your ass.
But the album is only the start for this self-declared club boy. And now, he’s looking forward to getting himself out of the studio and back where he belongs.
I live on the other side of midnight, he said.
We get sweaty and we get nasty and we get the crowd hyped. We bring the noise and we bring the ruckus.
