Long weekend round-up

Long weekend round-up

Winter has arrived but our party spirits haven’t frozen over yet. The Queen’s Birthday will heat up our tiaras this long weekend.

It’s going to be quite the week. Have you got the tickets to the hottest events of the week?

The Misfits

The Misfits party will be Oxford Street’s most diverse party of the week. Celebrity guest Vanessa Wagner will be hosting the night and promises to make the event unforgettable.

What makes our party the best is that we are alternative to the mainstream events. Our line-up is more unique compared to anywhere else, event coordinator Mark Gerber said.

The hottest bands Van She, Pinky Tuscadero, Toydeath and Buggirl will be performing live. The infamous performance troupe, Sin Sydney’s Psych-ward Circus, will also be presenting their burlesque and vaudeville acts.

A multitude of Sydney’s best DJs will be cranking the club to its ultimate climax.

The Misfits will be held at Spectrum/ 34b/ Q Bar and starts at 10pm. Tickets are $40 and are available at Spank Records, Reefer Records and So Music. Hurry because tickets are selling fast.

Bitch

The weather will not be the only thing wet this Friday and Sunday night, as the Bitch parties will be enticing the girl-only crowd.

Friday night is the rousing membership party. DJ Sveta will be vibrating the dancefloor and Kyla Sexton will be performing live. Cover charge is $5.

Sunday is Queen B. DJs include your Royal Highnesses Sista P and Renae Stanton. Both parties are at Deckbar and they both start at 7pm.

The Star has two VIP Bitch memberships to pass on to lucky readers. The membership includes official silver engraved dog tags, a Bitch session CD mixed by DJ Sista P and a ticket to go into the draw for a glamorous prize (think 12 months’ free entry, a limo for six, a tour of the city and red carpet arrival at Bitch).

The membership also lets you jump the queues and take the VIP path in. Email [email protected] by Friday 9 June to pick one up. See the Bitch website.

Indulgence

Have you polished your harness? Because Oxford Street will be enticed by the large fetish clique as the Midnight Shift will be hosting its leather and denim party.

The party is more masculine than the rest. The music is underground and has a more mature crowd, club manager Logan Brown said.

The DJs include Rob Davis and Rado. This party will be held this Sunday 11 June at the Midnight Shift Club, 85 Oxford Street, from 9pm. Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 on the door from The Midnight Shift video bar.
