Malawian couple need your help

Pull out your pens, in defiance of the sword, and write a letter of support for two Malawian men who face a 14-year prison sentence for being gay.
The International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission has called on GLBT advocates from around the world to write to Steven Monjeza Soko and Tionge Chimbalanga Kachepa, who were arrested last December and are set to face charges of committing unnatural and indecent practices between males.
Their arrest came after the two gay and lesbian rights activists dared to hold an engagement ceremony.
The commission has called on people to show their support for the couple, “to show Steven and Tionge, and relevant authorities, that the international community is watching and stands in solidarity with them,” a spokesman said.
“It is clear that local, regional and international attention to this case has helped lessen the physical and verbal abuse that the two had experiences in the early days of their incarceration.”
