Mardi Gras calls AGM

Mardi Gras calls AGM

New Mardi Gras is calling on members to nominate candidates for election to the  board of the organisation, with elections to be held at its annual general meeting in August.

Those wishing to nominate a candidate can download a nomination form from the New Mardi Gras website or pick one up from the New Mardi Gras offices at Suite 6, 94 Oxford St Darlinghurst.

Forms must be signed by the nominee and two additional members and delivered to the New Mardi Gras offices by 5pm on July 23 to be accepted.

Candidates will be announced prior to the election.

Members may also submit Notices of Business for the meeting, with these due at the office by 5pm the previous day. Notices of Business must be signed by two New Mardi Gras members.

The meeting is expected to draw a large number of members and the public after the organisation revealed at an extraordinary general meeting in April that it would post a loss of at least $400,000 for the season.

The loss was the result of a controversial decision to split the parade and party over two separate weekends, following an administration error in venue booking.

info: The annual general meeting will take place on Saturday August 21, with a venue yet to be announced. Details: www.mardigras.org.au

  1. Who could possibly believe that the large loss for the season is the result of holding the parade and party on different nights ? It is clearly the result of the NMG Board not being able to manage risk with financial responsibility. Make way for the new, I know how I will be voting.
