Mardi Gras online exhibition seeks artists

Mondo Mirrorball, an online exhibition of photographic art both local and global, goes live on 6 February. The exhibition at www.jamiedunbar.com will feature photos by lesbian and gay photographers as well as links to websites around the world.

Dunbar (a regular photographer for Sydney Star Observer) told the Star he wants the show to broaden our perspectives.

I want people to have access to other photographers’ work so you can see what’s going on, on a daily basis, in different parts of the world or right here, Dunbar said. And part of that is trying to encourage, nurture or grow a culture of photography that’s not just about Herb Ritts. Because we’ve got enough of that whole style, this dreamy gay sex thing. It’s fine for people who like it but there’s all this other stuff that I want to see.

Contributors are asked to email Dunbar at [email protected] with images to be added to the site throughout the festival. Links to existing photography websites will also be accepted.

Photographers already involved in the show include Maria Azzopardi, Mazz Image and Garrie Maguire. The show runs until 6 March.
