Mardi Gras releases more tickets

A small number of additional tickets to this year’s sold-out Mardi Gras Party will go on sale at noon today – at a cost of $175 each.

Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (SGLMG) will add a new space to the party area, – the Videobar.

SGLMG CEO Michael Rolik said the organisation had already planned for the Kylie Minogue K25 show to be shown as a live broadcast in Hordern Pavilion with full audio.

He said the introduction of the Videobar will allow more people to see the show as well as other RHI show performances. This means that Saturday’s Mardi Gras Party will now be wired up for video for the first time with the night’s highlight Kylie Minogue K25 show broadcast on two large screens as well as seen live in the Royal Hall of Industries.

“We have always struggled with how to bring in really massive names for Mardi Gras Party when our largest venue will only accommodate around 40 percent of our total capacity,” Rolik said.

“This year we have put in the necessary infrastructure in the Hordern Pavilion and now in the new Videobar to make sure that just about everyone will have the opportunity to feel part of the biggest show on the night.

“The Videobar now makes it possible for us to allow even more people to experience Mardi Gras Party. It will provide a relaxed outdoor space with cover that will allow people to drink, socialise, eat, chill out and not miss out on any of the big shows in the RHI as it will all be up there on our big screens.”
