The gay and lesbian community’s love of sport and sporting players will be the central theme to this year’s Sleaze Ball.

New Mardi Gras announced the theme, Game On, this morning.

This year’s theme, GAME ON, sees the party celebrating the sexiest, sleaziest aspects of the world of sport. Expect to see rugby players, roller derby, netball uniforms, martial arts, fencers, matadors, kick boxers, Mexican wrestlers, Turkish wrestlers, jelly wrestlers, surfers, and much more, the organisation stated in a prepared media statement.

The Sleaze Ball 2009 theme release come two weeks after New Mardi Gras announced it was splitting 2010 parade and party over two weekends.

Last year New Mardi Gras reduced the size of Sleaze Ball to the Hordern Pavilion and the forecourt.

In this morning’s prepared statement organisation chair David Imrie said Sleaze 2009 would return to a multi-venue party this year, with at least two venues line-up for the party.

Scissor Sisters’ DJ Sammy Jo will be the headline act.
