Marriage ad on TV from tonight

Grassroots lobby group GetUp! have announced that their popular promotional video for marriage equality will air on commercial television from tonight.

The ad, which has had nearly 3-million views on YouTube since last week, has attracted praise from same-sex marriage supporters the world over.

Donations to GetUp!’s campaign to get the advertisement on air secured enough contributions to ensure airplay across the country well into next week.

In addition to the new commercial air dates, GetUp! have had the video running on Sky News to reach those watching the ALP National Conference live.

ALP delegates today received a petition from the organisation asking them to end marriage discrimination, which had over 140,285 signatories.

There will also be skywriting and bike ads around the National Conference encouraging change to the ALP platform.
