MARRIAGE AMENDMENT BILL GOES TO SENATE

The government’s second attempt to exclude same-sex couples from marriage will be debated in the Senate today.

After Wednesday’s senate decision to send the matter to a senate inquiry, the government, claiming “urgency” brought its Marriage Amendment Act back into the Lower House yesterday.

Although ALP shadow attorney general Nicola Roxon spoke against the process used by the government, Labor voted in favour of the bill, sending it to the Upper House.
