New Jersey gets gay unions
The US state of New Jersey has legalised same-sex civil unions, but will not allow them to be called marriages.New Jersey’s governor said he would sign the bill into law, BBC News reported.Late last year New Jersey’s supreme court ruled gay couples should have the same rights as opposite-sex partners.New Jersey gay activists welcomed the reform and said they would continue to push for marriage rights.Massachusetts is the only US state that allows gay marriage.
