Pierre’s new direction

Canadian gay porn star (and increasingly in-demand DJ) Pierre Fitch will headline Love Muscle at the Greenwood Hotel in North Sydney on Saturday, October 30.

The 28-year-old stud, formerly one of the stars of the Falcon stable but now producing and starring in films under his own Fitch Media label, will visit Australia for the first time for a DJ tour that will also take in dates in Melbourne and Brisbane.

“I’ve never been outside of North America, so this is a really big trip for me. I’m looking forward to seeing all the hot guys in Oz,” Fitch told Sydney Star Observer.

In other words, boys: you’re in with a chance. Fitch said he would be hoping to mix business with pleasure on this trip.

“I’m always on the lookout. Aussie men are so hot and rugged. And the accent drives me wild,” he admitted.

And Fitch will have extra reason to celebrate, as he turns 29 on the day. Don’t expect a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it celebrity guest appearance: Pierre Fitch will be in the mood to party.

What can punters expect from his DJ set? Does Fitch know his stuff behind the decks, or is his DJ career just an excuse to take his shirt off in front of a captive audience?

“Music has always been my first love; I’ve been hanging out in clubs for as long as I can remember,” he explained.

“About two years ago I decided to buy my first DJ equipment. I had to get everything top-of-the-line, and the equipment I have at home is newer than what they have in most clubs.

“I actually built a club in my basement called the Bad Boys Den where I practised every day and even had other famous DJs come by.”

Fitch’s tastes lean towards house, tribal and progressive sounds, but he acknowledged that a large part of the audience at his DJ appearances are, at least to begin with, drawn there by his — ahem — film career rather than his talents on the decks.

“I know a lot of people come to see Pierre Fitch the ‘porn star’, but when they hear me play, they forget all about that. All they can think of is DJ Pierre Fitch!”

And when you think about it, the two occupations aren’t that dissimilar. DJs and porn stars both work up a sweat in an attempt to make their audience reach high levels of excitement.

Fitch said whether it was porn or music, he loved being a showman.

“Oh yes, I’ve always loved being the centre of attention. I love being recognised for my work.”

Asked which role gave him the greater buzz, Fitch was faced with his very own Sophie’s Choice.

“I can’t really say which I enjoy more — they are two very different things. Porn was my first job and I still love it. Being a DJ is my second job and  I love it just as much. I guess you could say I love music as much as I love sex, but in different ways, of course.”

Of course. And Fitch has managed to parlay this love of sex and music into a successful entrepreneurial career. A far cry from the stereotypical view of porn stars as exploited puppets, in recent years he’s taken control of his career, launching his own production company, pay-per-view website and even a Pierre Fitch lube.

“I love porn and I will always be a part of the industry. One day I will not be in front of the camera any more, but I will always be directing or producing. Porn will never go out of style. It’s always been around in some form going back thousands of years,” he said.

“I don’t see it going out of date any time soon!”

info: Love Muscle is at the Greenwood Hotel, 36 Blue Street, North Sydney, from 2pm on Saturday, October 30.
