Plans afoot for Darlinghurst

Sydney shopkeeper committee, the Darlinghurst Business Partnership (DBP) have announced details of their plan to reinvigorate the local area in 2010.
Last November, the City of Sydney Council endorsed a $50,000 Business Support Grant to the DBP to be spent on a ‘Shop Local’ campaign.
The DBP hosted an information night on Monday, April 12, where they presented plans for the Shop Local campaign. The campaign aims to get residents of Darlinghurst and the wider Sydney area to consider Oxford St, Darlinghurst as a daytime shopping destination, as well as an area to visit at night.
The DBP plans to apply for another grant for next year, to ensure ongoing promotion of the area. As part of next year’s grant, the committee proposes to investigate expanding the DBP’s boundaries to take in the entire 2010 postcode. They say this will help to revitalise other parts of Darlinghurst, moving the campaign from an Oxford St-centric marketing drive to one that includes other precincts within the 2010 postcode boundaries.
