Play School drama created by journalists: THE AUSTRALIAN

The controversy surrounding a lesbian couple who made a brief appearance on the ABC’s Play School last week was created by a cadet journalist in Melbourne, The Australian reported today.

Media writer Amanda Meade traced the origins of the story back to Herald Sun cadet Liam Houlihan.

According to The Australian, Houlihan contacted the Australian Family Association for a comment after ordering a copy of the segment. Houlihan’s wife had seen the episode, he said.

The Australian Family Association reacted as expected, which led federal Government ministers to speak out against the segment.

According to The Australian, the 30 second segment only attracted one written complaint after its first screening.

The segment featured children’s author Vicki Harding and partner Jackie Braw taking daughter Brenna to a theme park.
