Potbelleez in rehearsal

Sleaze Ball virgins The Potbelleez have started rehearsals for this year’s Sleaze Ball.

The DJ foursome behind the hit track Don’t Hold Back are no strangers to Sydney’s gay scene having recorded their early songs in their Darlinghurst terrace.

Their set at Sleaze 2008 will put them before more than 5000 people at the biggest dress up event in Sydney’s calendar – and they can’t wait.

We imagine the crowd will be shiny and excessive so we’re expecting full blown party monsters on technicolour dreamboats, the band said in an official statement.

And they don’t intend to disappoint their Sleaze audience, promising to smash it up in true Potbelleez form.

Ministry of Sound legend Alan Thompson will be giving The Potbelleez a run for their money in the Hordern, and he’s got history on his side having played at Sleaze eight years ago. Between sets he’s been to Ibiza and back, by way of UK super clubs Trade and DTPM.

I’m really excited about playing a deeper techie set with big phat basslines and the theme of this year’s event should ensure lots of great costumes and characters, Thompson said.

And talking of costumes, Thompson is threatening to don something a little special to fit in with Sleaze’s theme of The Villains’ Lair.

“I haven’t decided as yet if I will dress for the theme but you can expect another darker, naughtier side to Alan Thompson,” he said.

I’ll be playing for three hours, which is great as it gives me the opportunity to build my set, taking the crowd with me.

Alan Thompson is the first DJ for the night playing 9pm -“ 12am and The Potbelleez follow.

Alan Thompson and The Potbelleez will be in fine company, as they’ll be joined by local heroes Sveta and Mark Murphy and one of Sydney’s favourite exports Deepchild.

For The Potbelleez, the incredible music and unique atmosphere of one of Sydney’s most loved club events means they’re counting down the days until October 4 -“ Sleaze Ball.

The Potbelleez love a great party full of mayhem and dancing and Sleaze Ball will no doubt live up to its reputation as one of the best nights of the year, the band said.
