Public support same-sex equality, marriage
For the first time a majority of Australians support same-sex marriage according to a new poll, just three years after a federal ban.
The survey of 1,100 people, commissioned by progressive lobby group GetUp, found 57 percent were in favour of same-sex marriage, with 37 percent opposed.
Labor voters supported same-sex marriage by more than two-to-one. Coalition voters were slightly more opposed than for.
