With the annual Aurora dinner only a fortnight away, the Aurora Group has announced one of the headline performers for the evening — stage and television actor and singer Rachael Beck.

Beck will make her Aurora debut at the June 23 Titanic-themed event, and told the Star Observer she was already planning a performance to fit the theme.

“Somebody I’m sure will be doing the Celine Dion number, so I thought I’d do a couple of special songs — perhaps [Leonard Cohen’s] Hallelujah and a quirky Cole Porter song.”

The nautically themed evening will take inspiration from the Titanic, above deck and below, from the grandeur of the great ballroom to the debauchery of the crew cabins. Guests will discover high society, captains and heroes, sailors and stowaways, mermaids, sharks and — of course — that iceberg.

And, as Beck explained, the charity aspect of the night was what made her especially keen to take part.

“Aurora is such a wonderful organisation, and charity is certainly a big part of my career. I’ve been so lucky that I like to give back and help other people.”
