Scotland’s prisons are set to take to on a pink tinge as authorities try to improve jail employees’ macho image by recruiting more gay staff.The Scottish Prison Service will place advertisements in the gay and lesbian press and also set up a hotline for prison officers who want help coming out, The Sunday Times reported.A prisons spokesperson said Scottish jails were keen to promote diversity.Gay rights group Stonewall Scotland praised the hugely significant decision.The stereotype of uniformed services is straight, institutional, tough, white, masculine and hard, director Calum Irving said.We are hoping their example will give other organisations the impetus [to support gay rights].
