Seas, sights, sounds and sexiness

Missed out on a ticket to Azure? Here’s something better. With a blend of drag, DJs, drumming and hardcore dressing up, the two Gender Blender events promise to be true Harbour Parties.

Expect a lot, organiser Jonnie Swift says. It’s not just getting on a boat with a DJ in the corner.

Indeed. Swift and co-presenter Sexy Galexy (this week’s SSO cover king) want the two events to be a chance for the whole community, men and women, to come together and celebrate our season in a totally fabulous way.

In addition to Galexy and Swift, drag legend Claire de Lune is promising a dramatic entry and even more dramatic show.

Samba Frog, after a preview performance at Friday night’s launch, will unleash their drumming magic. DJ Sandy Hotrod and live electro stars GI Trash will make plenty of music.

Organisers are providing finger food and drinks are available. The ship’s top deck will be a chill-out space to relax and take in the views.

The boat cruise leaves from Rose Bay. After the party, the Sydney By Diva bus will take all Blenders back to Gilligans or Gingers for a complimentary drink.

Swift says the cruise will also be a great chance to dress up -“ to bring out your inner seaman or ship wench.

The emphasis of this party is to blend together everybody from the GLBTQ communities, to have a party with an absolute difference, and to have absolute fun, Swift says.

It’s all about inclusion, and anything goes.

Gender Blender: A Sydney Harbour Cruise will be held on Saturday and Sunday 12-13 February from 7pm to midnight.

Tickets are $65 or $55 in advance only from Kaos, 197-199 Oxford St, Karnal Leather, 322 Bourke St, Darlinghurst, and The Froot Store, 160 King St, Newtown.
