Shoppers get a load of retail therapy

Thousands of pink dollars were spent on Saturday as part of the annual Bobby Goldsmith Foundation’s Shop Yourself Stupid.

Taking over Oxford Street, the orgy of spending raised thousands of dollars for the BGF.

Stewards Mitzi Macintosh and David Wilkins hosted a range of on-stage acts, while roving drag performers and Miss BGF entrants stopped traffic.

Mystique Jewell won the coveted Miss BGF title in a unanimous decision -“ thanks, in part, to her high-heeled backflips.

Dolly Wood gave up her crown after a year of fundraising.

The organisers have sent out a thanks to all of the venues and retail outlets who supported Shop Yourself Stupid.

The Bobby Goldsmith Foundation raises money to provide financial assistance to people living with HIV/AIDS. The organisation also provides a positive employment counselling service, accommodation support and financial counselling. Its team of 600 volunteers provide the equivalent of 1,000 days of assistance each year. This year is the BGF’s 20th anniversary.
