Ever wonder what really went on at those all-women 1950s Tupperware parties?In Wayne Tunks’s Tupperware, as the vacuum-sealed lids come off the Tupperware, so do the housewives’ inhibitions.

Tupperware is one of a series of short plays on at the Newtown Theatre every weekend during Mardi Gras.

Pink Shorts is the gay and lesbian offshoot of Short & Sweet Sydney, a five-week showcase of 10-minute theatre pieces.

Tunks also wrote, directed and will star in The Proverbial Closet, another Pink Shorts play.

Alex Broun’s The Gift Of The Gun was originally presented as part of Short & Sweet 2003, and was selected to tour with Shorter & Sweeter -“ the best of Short & Sweet 2002-2004.

The Gift Of The Gun is a 10-minute thriller set in a deserted warehouse, where a young male prostitute meets an unexpected trick.

Other Pink Shorts include Duncan Armitage’s Saints And Sinners, Charles Freyberg’s Portrait, Katrina Fox’s And Now The End Is Near. Uma Kali Shakri wrote and directed Ramona And Juliette, and Mark Cleary wrote and directed Ledge Of Reality.

Pink Shorts happens at the Newtown Theatre every Saturday and Sunday at 1pm during February. Tickets are available online at MCATIX for $25/ $20 (groups of 10 people or more $18 per person).
