SLEAZE BALL

The hottest party this long weekend will be the 25th annual Sleaze Ball thrown by New Mardi Gras on Saturday 30 September from 10pm. With a ghetto fabulous theme it will be held across three venues -“ the Hordern, Dome and Forum. DJs include Stephen Allkins, Mr Timothy, Paul Goodyear, Sveta, Alex Taylor, Sista P and Mandy Rollins, with live performances by Katie Underwood and Vandalism. BAD DOG

The folks from Bad Dog are holding their next party, Pee Emm, this long weekend on Sunday 1 October from 10pm at Marrickville Bowling Club. DJs will include Bill Cotsis, Steve Sonius, Ben Drayton and Annabelle Gaspar. Tickets are $35 from Spank Records and Machine Muzik in Darlinghurst, Barberia in Surry Hills and So Music in Newtown. CLUB KOOKY

Start the long weekend Club Kooky-style this Friday 29 September from 10pm. See a live performance by Always with his Bear Pryde, which has been described as an overdramatic adolescent diary with spells and chants in a gathering of teenage punk witches with gay bears, and sounding like a bedroom recording of Belinda Carlisle aged 13 on garbage cans and vocals with stick hitting. There will also be sword dancing by Club Arak’s Shiva. Resident DJs Gemma and Seymour Butz will be joined by special guest Matt Vaughn. Entry is $10.

ARQ HIGHLIGHTS

It’s the grand final of Arq’s drag comp Take The Lead on Thursday 28 September. Will the winner be Beyonce G Spot, Feminem or Miss Tiffany? Find out from 9pm. Entry is free. Arq’s Sleaze Ball recovery party, Disco Ghetto, is on Sunday 1 October with international DJ Brent Nicholls. He’ll be joined by local talents Paul Goodyear, Luke Leal, Jimmy Dee, Sandi Hotrod and Justin Scott. There will also be a live performance by Belinda Chapple. Tickets are $25 from Toolshed, the Imperial and Arq Gaming Lounge, or $30 on the door.

FACES OF ASIA

The Asian Marching Boys are holding the fundraising party Faces of Asia this Thursday 28 September from 8pm at Midnight Shift Club. There will be shows by Miss Sara Lee and the AMB dancers incorporating some of the many cultures of Asia. Door prizes include two tickets to dance party Nation VI in Phuket. Entry $10.
