The UNSW Theatrical Society is staging Cabaret this month.

The Tony Award-winning musical explores the nature of sexuality and the underground culture of pre-World War 2 Germany.

Set in the early 30s, the show also focuses on English cabaret singer Sally Bowles and her relationship with writer Cliff Bradshall.

Originally entitled Welcome to Berlin, this musical has traveled from the West End to Broadway and now is back in Australia.

The university’s production is directed by Lara Kerestes and stars Benjamin Wood, Lloyd Harvey and Ashley Burgess as Sally Bowles.

The show runs Tuesday 14 August to Saturday 25 August at the Fig Tree Theatre in Kensington. Tickets start at $10.
