Spanish mayors to defy same-sex marriage

Responding to pressure from the Vatican, Spanish officials have promised to defy same-sex marriage law expected to take effect later this year.

Mayors from the centre-right People’s Party said they would not carry out gay marriages, after legislation allowing same-sex unions passed Spanish parliament’s lower house last week.
