SSO 30th year comes to a close

The Sydney Star Observer’s 30th anniversary celebrations came to a close last Wednesday night with a special party for shareholders, supporters and invited guests.

Former SSO chair, tireless community worker and Honour Award recipient Jane Marsden delivered the keynote address, looking back through the paper’s 30 year history.

Sydney MP and Lord Mayor Clover Moore, current SSO Media chair Daniel Bone and publisher Scott Abrahams were also in attendance.

The celebration brought to a close a hectic year from the Star. As well as celebrating it’s 30th year, it also produced its 1000th edition. It is still Australia’s oldest and best-read gay and lesbian newspaper and now ranks as one of the oldest of its kind still operating around the world.
