Sydney Swans launch plan to champion LGBTI diversity

THE Sydney Swans have launched a new Diversity Action Plan to empower groups including LGBTI people.
The plan encourages inclusion of women, people from multicultural backgrounds, people with disabilities and LGBTI people.
“It’s another act of our leadership as a club,” said Swans board member Sam Mostyn.
“Taking on issues that matter to our community, to our employees, to our players, and standing for something and ensuring that everyone that wants to engage with our football club feels very much that they belong.
“It complements the reconciliation action plan that looks at Indigenous engagement.
“It’s a moment for us to tell the world and footy lovers that anyone of any sexuality is welcome at our game.”
The club said that health and social outcomes for young LGBTI people are important.
“For those people to feel very supported around our club and at a game has an enormous impact,” said Mostyn.
“It’s part of a broader commitment we have to anyone who wants to be part of the club to know they truly do belong.”
