Take the perfect Barossa break

Take the perfect Barossa break

Character, quality and complexity are just a few words that describe great wine. They also describe Australia’s most famous wine region, the beautiful Barossa Valley.

It’s so easy to load up the car and head north from Adelaide for just over an hour’s drive and arrive in another world for an enchanted weekend where stress simply melts away.

Two places we would highly recommend in order to achieve this state of wellbeing are the Barossa Vista B&B and the Novotel Barossa Valley Resort.

Barossa Vista is located just off the main street in Tanunda and is a 1920s bungalow with all the mod cons. The views go on forever and include the Turkey Flat Vineyards famous for its reds. Barossa Vista is a fully self-contained B&B with three large bedrooms, study and an open-plan dining/lounge room with an open fire. The stunning, state-of-the-art gourmet kitchen allows you to prepare your own meals using wonderful Barossa produce. All chef-quality kitchenware is provided and appliances include a fruit juicer, automatic espresso maker, Bosch cook top, oven and dishwasher.

The cottage is air-conditioned with the open fireplace providing a warming ambience. The main bedroom has its own ensuite and spa bath for that perfect romantic encounter. Light the candles, splash a few fragrant bath salts into the water, grab a wine (and if you’re lucky – a companion) and submerge yourself for an hour or so in pure bliss.

The Novotel Barossa Valley Resort is the first major resort to be built in the Valley. It’s another perfect destination in which to pamper yourself, relax and have fun. The Resort is set in a natural amphitheatre overlooking Jacob’s Creek and Rowland Flat and just a short drive from Tanunda.

It’s the full-on resort style accommodation that features a sparkling swimming pool, mountain bike hire, golf, tennis courts, volley ball, the list goes on and on. There’s also a new Endota Spa at the resort where you can experience a fantastic full-body makeover or massage.

The rooms are spacious and modern, all with private balconies, panoramic views of the surrounding vineyards and the creature comforts you’d expect of a resort of this style. All suites are equipped with kitchenettes, sitting area, TV and queen-sized beds. Nine suites have spas for that extra special treat.

Next time you manage to get a few days off, seriously consider the Barossa Valley and all it has to offer. It’s so close, it’s romantic and it’s a getaway that guarantees relaxation.
