The Three Sisters Social Group Inc will be taking the Queen’s Birthday to a new level when they present their annual Disco and Talent Quest. The Frogbattleship and Griffin Theatre Company will be presenting the Australian premiere season of Stoning Mary by Debbie Tucker Green from Wednesday 28 May. The play is directed by Lee Lewish and is a discomfittingly relevant play for our times that taps into the current political debate about our relationship to Africa. The playwright seeks to challenge our perception of events in Africa by taking stories from African newspaper articles, and re-setting them in our own cities with a cast of white characters. For the first time in 2008, the Actors College of Theatre and Television has created a second chance for all those interested in pursuing training in the performing arts with the opening of mid-year enrolments for their highly regarded Advanced Diploma of Arts in Stage and Screen Acting. Auditions are open now for this course which commences on 4 August. The Pacific Opera combines with the exciting chamber choir Bel A Cappella and a 20-piece orchestra for Voices On Sunday.
