The legendary Oxford Hotel upstairs bar Gilligans is alive and kicking in the refurbished venue’s basement. The new-look Gilligans features DJs on weekends, and a $10 cover charge after midnight.

SUNDAY SAYS FAREWELL ON SATURDAY

It’s Stephen Sondheim’s favourite musical, and it has enjoyed a successful run at the Q Theatre Company in Penrith, but now Sunday In The Park With George will close this weekend. The Pulitzer Prize-winning musical features Tyran Parke and Amie McKenna in the story of French painter George Seurat. The musical score includes such favourites as Putting It Together and Move On. UNDERPANTS COMING DOWN

Actor Matt Butcher stars in the play The Underpants, based on an old German work and adapted for the modern stage by American screen star Steve Martin. FREE CABARET IN GLEBE

Thursdays are cabaret night at the AB Hotel in Glebe and cabaret wonderboys Hayden Tee and Shaun Rennie are on in the coming weeks. Tee will kick off the season with his show playing on 5 and 19 April and 3 May, with Rennie in the intervening weeks on 12 and 26 April and 10 May. HELL OF A GOOD TIME

American values and the Bush administration are put in the spotlight by acclaimed playwright Sam Shepard in his latest play, The God Of Hell, which opens 4 April at the Newtown Theatre.
