The annual concert performances from Wagner’s Ring cycle have been one of the highlights of Edo de Waart’s tenure as Sydney Symphony’s chief conductor. To mark his final year as conductor, de Waart has assembled a stellar cast for this year’s concert performance of the last act of The Valkyrie. The powerful voice and arresting stage presence of Irish-based South African soprano Elizabeth Connell will be the star attraction. She will be supported by talented locals such as Peteris Eglitis, Lisa Harper-Brown, and Elizabeth Campbell. The SSO has been shining in recent concerts and is sure to be in top form. It’s on for two performances only on 27 and 29 March at the Sydney Opera House. Phone 9334 4600 for bookings.
