A tribute dinner and show will be held on Thursday 20 February to honour the late Bernard King. Friends and family of King are inviting the community to attend the event, which will be held at the Canterbury/Hurlstone Park RSL Club. Organisers told the Star that they hoped those who were unable to attend King’s funeral in Brisbane on 30 December will be able to attend this event. The evening will feature live entertainment, including a performance by Claire de Lune and Verushka Darling and big band dancing. Tickets for the night are $65, which includes a complimentary cocktail on arrival and a three-course meal. Profits from the event will go to the Australian Ladies Variety Association, a favourite charity of King’s. Tickets may be booked direct from the club on 9559 0000 and organisers are also seeking performers and volunteers who would like to contribute to the event. Interested parties should call Cherie Donavan on 0419 864 333.
