Volunteers needed for Red Ribbon Day

ACON is launching a renewed drive for Red Ribbon Day volunteers to help collect donations for the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Volunteers are needed in Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong, Lismore, Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour to sell ribbons and collect donations at selected locations on Friday, November 30 or Saturday, December 1 (World AIDS Day).

“The money we raise through the Red Ribbon Appeal is vital to the work of ACON as it helps us prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS through education campaigns as well as provide the services and facilities essential to the health and wellbeing of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS across NSW,” ACON CEO Nicolas Parkhill said.

“If you want to help sell ribbons on the street, all you have to do is donate a few hours of your time on either the Friday or Saturday. You can even get your friends and workmates involved and have a fun day out. And if you work in a large company, you can encourage all your colleagues to get involved through a community service initiative.”
