Write your adventures down

Despite a lack of commercial success, The Go-Betweens were one of the most critically revered Australian bands of the last 25 years. Following the premature death of Grant McLennan (half of The Go-Betweens’ songwriting duo) in 2006, some of Australia’s best came together to pay tribute on Write Your Adventures Down.

For the casual (or non-) fan, Streets Of Your Town (performed by Bob Evans) is the most recognisable cut. The standout is Patience Hodgson’s (The Grates) cheeky new wave on Lee Remick, closely followed by Andrew Cox’s (The Fauves) passionate Draining The Pool. Bye Bye Pride (Sarah Blasko), Head Full Of Steam (Dan Kelly) and Right Here (Darren Hanlon) are other highlights on what is a well crafted but somewhat reverential collection of guitar-based pop/rock.

If you are a fan of the featured artists, this CD is for you. Even better -“ give it a listen and be inspired to seek out the real thing.
