Your chance to be a charity queen

Your chance to be a charity queen

Want to be queen for a night? Or how about a good Samaritan for a couple of nights?

ACON is looking for people to collect donations at the door when Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical returns to Star City’s Lyric Theatre this month.

The show’s producers have given ACON permission to collect donations after each of the 120 performances of the show during its return Sydney season.

Eight people are needed for about 20 minutes after each performance to collect donations. The show is performed every night from Tuesday to Saturday with matinees on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Volunteers are required from 10.20pm for the evening performances, from 3.20pm for the Wednesday matinee, 4.20pm for the Saturday matinee and from 7.20pm for the Sunday performance.

ACON events coordinator David Wilkins said he hopes people will give up at least one 20-minute slot to raise money for the health organisation.

This is a really amazing opportunity and we thank the Priscilla producers for their generosity and support, Wilkins said.

It’s also a wonderful opportunity for people to have fun with their friends and help out ACON at the same time.

We know it’s a big ask to come out after 10pm on a week night to collect donations so we’re suggesting that friends make it a weekly post-dinner event where they catch up for a meal and then head on over to the theatre to do the collection.

It only takes 20 minutes and it will make a huge difference to ACON’s work in the community.

In addition, the show’s producers have donated 100 A Reserve tickets to ACON for the very first return performance in Sydney on Tuesday 7 October at 8pm. Tickets can be bought from ACON for $100.
