Chief Executive of Qantas Alan Joyce plans to personally donate $1 million to the yes campaign for marriage equality.

His donation is the largest individual contribution to the yes campaign so far, according to news.com.au.

While other major corporations such as Optus, Telstra, and ANZ have publicly backed marriage equality, they won’t be actively campaigning ahead of the postal survey or providing financial support.

Last month, Joyce announced that he would personally back the yes campaign and urged other businesses to do the same.

“There are 1,300 companies that have published their logo to support marriage equality including all the banks, all the airlines, and I believe those companies should go out there and support it,” he said.

“They have given their logos and support to that campaign before and I have no doubt a large element of the business community will be out there supporting this campaign.”

Roughly 16 million postal ballots started being sent out yesterday to Australians around the country.

  1. What an example to all CEO’s to follow – well done Alan to both of you as trail blazers.

  2. Hi. Please please please change the headline to include the word PERSONALLY so that the right wing nut jobs don’t then start attacking Qantas and accusing him of wasting company money.
