The LGBTI community of Ipswich will find another venue in the city opening its doors to them, hosting a series of regular events and offering a dedicated gay-friendly hotel in the city’s CBD.

Hotel Metropole, in the south-eastern Queensland city, will not being a solely dedicated LGBTI venue but will host fortnightly drag and themed nights for the gay community.

“We are hoping to bring a place to the Ipswich community where they can come any day of the week, whether it’s just to have a drink or a meal or to enjoy the entertainment… with them knowing they have the full support of all the staff and management [and] that we will provide a safe place for all,” the venue’s fortnightly show host Peter Robinson told the Star Observer.

“I can not stress enough that this is a safe venue for everyone, everyday that we are open, not just when the drag shows are on.”

Hotel Metropole is located at 253 Brisbane St in Ipswich. For further information check out its website or call (07) 3281 1900.
