Bushfires blamed on abortion law

Evangelical Christian group Catch The Fire Ministries have blamed the horrific blazes which have killed 181 people (at the time of going to press) in Victoria on the passage of the Abortion Bill last year.
Ministry leader Pastor Danny Nalliah said in a statement last week he was not surprised by the bushfires because he had a dream last October the state would face consequences for passing abortion law reform.

-œIn my dream I saw fire everywhere with flames burning very high and uncontrollably, he wrote.
-œ… [God’s] conditional protection has been removed from the nation of Australia, in particular Victoria, for approving the slaughter of innocent children in the womb.
It is not the first time Nalliah has
courted controversy. The pastor made headlines after being taken to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal by the Islamic Council of Victoria for breaching the state’s Racial and Religious Tolerance Act.
Nalliah and another ministry member were found to have vilified Muslims during a public seminar in 2002. The ruling was overturned in the Court of Appeal in 2006, leading the two parties to settle the dispute in mediation.
Former federal treasurer Peter Costello has been criticised for his past involvement with the controversial pastor. Last week he rejected Nalliah’s claims, telling media they were -œappalling, heartless and wrong.
Speaking to the ABC’s Lateline program, Victorian Premier John Brumby described Catch The Fire’s comments as -œgrossly offensive.
In May last year, The Australian newspaper quoted Nalliah spurning moves to change federal laws on same-sex couple entitlements saying, -œSuddenly we are seeing laws being passed under the cunning strategy of tolerance and political correctness to change what was once a crime into accepting behaviour, such as homosexuality, pedophilia, incest.
