ChillOut gets all clear

The Daylesford ChillOut Festival Committee breathed a huge sigh of relief as official  confirmation came that we can put all the fears and concerns of the last weeks behind us and enjoy a wonderful ChillOut weekend.

ChillOut kicks off with The Slowest Lunch at Sault Restaurant on Friday, followed by the opening party with the Topp Twins at the Palais. On Saturday there’s a host of activities culminating in our famous Bush Dance.

Sunday explodes into life with the street parade in the town centre and Carnival Day in Victoria Park  with Leo Sayer .

Wednesday morning the CFA gave the town the all clear. Phillip Beasley Operations Manager for CFA Region 15, told Hepburn Shire CEO Kaylene Conrick there would be no risk to visitors.

-œWe do not consider that there is any fire risk to the community or anyone attending ChillOut.  In fact we think ChillOut is a positive move and will help the community get back to normality.

And the weather is lending a hand, too. Cooler showery weather is forecast to continue over the next few days, means there is little activity and no fire threat to the towns of Daylesford and Hepburn Springs. The towns were not touched by the recent fire, which was confined to an area of bush and farmland to the south and east.

The Vic Roads Bushfire Information Line confirms the area is safe to travel, with a couple of minor restrictions. The Daylesford-Ballan Road is subject to some speed limits, and a few minor roads remain closed.

Because the fire did not touch the towns, all ChillOut venues are fully operational. And because of the fears of the last few weeks, there’s still accommodation available for last minute booking.

So come on down to Daylesford this weekend for the biggest and best country gay and lesbian festival in Australia.

And there’s a free shuttle bus service running all weekend.

So come and show your support for country Victoria and party with us all weekend long in Daylesford.
