George Michael’s much-publicised love affair with Australia extended to The Peel on Friday night.

The singer, still basking in the glory of his concert tour and performace at the Mardi Gras party, arrived at the venue shortly after midnight after dinner on Lygon St.

He stayed at the venue about two hours, chatting comfortably with patrons and staff.

Peel duty manager Jason Parish, who had seen Michael’s show at Etihad Stadium, chatted to his long-time idol about music and the show before the singer headed back to his hotel.
