JOY appoints new general manager

After weeks of uncertainty, Melbourne’s GLBTI radio station JOY94.9 has appointed a new general manager.
Danae Gibson has been announced as the replacement for Stephen Hahn who left the position in August.
Gibson hails from Western Australia and has been involved with Perth community radio station RTRfm for many years.
“I’ve really enjoyed the process of getting to know the fantastic community station that is JOY 94.9 and I’m really excited about joining the family,” she said.
JOY94.9 president Stephen Duns said he was excited to announce the appointment after weeks searching for the right person.
“We are very excited to have Danae Gibson as our general manager. Though there was an extremely strong field of applicants, it became clear that Danae was the preferred candidate. She will be an excellent addition to the JOY team,” Duns said.
Gibson has held a position on the board at RTRfm and presented the station’s first gay and lesbian program in the early 1990s.
With a background in community news and current affairs reporting, Gibson has also been a radio broadcasting lecturer at Central TAFE in Perth.
She will start with JOY94.9 on November 9.
Interviews for the position of program manager will start next week.
