Tennis legend and out lesbian Martina Navratilova has announced she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Navratilova, 53, told the media she was diagnosed after a routine mammogram but said her prognosis so far is “good”.
She said she was “devastated” to hear the news but remains “hopeful”.
The tennis champion said she decided to share her news publicly to encourage women to remain vigilant about getting health check-ups.
Navratilova has won 18 Grand Slam singles tennis titles, including a record nine at Wimbledon.
