Rainbow recital finds foreign flavour

ONE of Australia’s top LGBTI musical groups is presenting a concert of music from around the world, as well as showcasing the talents of its own resident composers.

Melbourne Rainbow Band’s Sound Travels will see the group of talented LGBTI concert musicians perform works originating from across the globe, from Cairo to the Carribean.

The concert will also feature the world premiere of two new works by composers and band members Pru Montin and Connor Taylor.

Sound Travels will be the band’s second concert since ARIA award-winning composer and arranger Greg Peterson took the helm in September 2013.

Earlier this year Peterson’s first concert Novel Sounds was a selection of music from and inspired by books, theatre and poetry, including music from Wicked and Game of Thrones.

The band is also holding its famous trivia night later this month on Saturday, September 13, and tables are currently available for booking.

Hosted by Dolly Diamond, Sound Travels is on at the James Tatoulis Auditorium at Methodist Ladies College in Kew at 8pm on Saturday, October 4.
