Stephen Gately’s shock sudden death

Openly gay Irish Boyzone star Stephen Gately has died after a night out on the island of Majorca. The 33-year-old pop star was holidaying on the island with his partner Andrew Cowles.
While full details of the pop star’s death are yet to be released, local Majorca police have indicated that there were no signs of suspicious circumstances – it has been reported that Gately had “gone out for drinks, returned to his accommodation and fallen asleep, but never woke up.”
Gately made history in 1999 when he became the first member of a boy band to publicly come out as gay. He drifted from the spotlight after Boyzone split up in 2000, but enjoyed a return to the stage in recent years as the group reformed and again toured the world. His Boyzone band mates, including Ronan Keating, have rushed to the island of Majorca to comfort Gately’s partner.
