Victims called on to report violence

The Anti-Violence Project Victoria has called on gay, lesbian and transgender victims of homophobic or transphobic violence to contact the police.
The call comes after the AVP’s new online reporting service recorded seven violent incidents which went unreported to police. The service was established last month as part of the International Day Against Homophobia and has found attacks reported in the Prahran and South Yarra areas as well as rural locations.
-œThe concentrated location of recent violence in and near the Chapel St and Commercial Rd intersection is a continuing concern for our community, AVP convenor Greg Adkins said. -œUnless our community gets on the phone and calls 000, more people will become silent victims.
