New face for film festival

The Melbourne Queer Film Festival (MQFF) has announced Kylie Eddy as its new general manager this week.

It came just days after entries for next year’s program opened up to the public.

Eddy returns to the MQFF team with a strong arts and commu

nity background, having spent the past several years in marketing for the Melbourne Festival and as a volunteer for JOY 94.9.

Eddy was previously in charge of marketing and sponsorship at MQFF.

She is also an experienced filmmaker and has had some of her films screened in the festival.

Festival director Lisa Daniel said she was excited about the new appointment for the festival’s 23rd year.

“I’m delighted to welcome Kylie back to the team and look forward to her invaluable input in taking Melbourne Queer Film Festival to 2013 and beyond,” Daniel said.

MQFF will run from March 14-24, 2013.
