O’Dwyer wants marriage views

South Yarra, Prahran and Armadale residents are being canvassed on same-sex marriage by their unconvinced local federal member, Kelly O’Dwyer.

Last December, the Higgins Liberal MP said she was yet to be convinced on same-sex marriage after consulting with her south-east Melbourne electorate.

O’Dwyer has launched an online survey for local residents to have their say on issues including the mining tax, the private health insurance rebate and marriage equality.

Last August, O’Dwyer said she supported civil unions for same-sex couples but expressed concern about the legal implications for children from same-sex marriage.

The Higgins electorate covers south-east Melbourne suburbs including Ashburton, Kooyong, Malvern and Toorak.

Many federal politicians have surveyed their electorates on same-sex marriage including Health Minister Tanya Plibersek, Shadow Treasurer Joe Hockey and Shadow Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
