Organisers are currently planning a celebration of the milestone event in conjunction with an acknowledgment of the ‘one year to go mark’.
There will be 17 sports for the Outgames, including athletics (track and field), basketball, dancesport, dragon boat, golf, hockey, lawn bowls, roller derby, swimming, and touch football.
Darwin won its bid to host the Outgames in May 2012 and more than 1000 participants, plus their supporters, are expected for the event.
Sports are open to everyone, regardless of sexuality or gender.
It will run from May 10-16, 2013 and will also include a human rights conference from May 14-16 and a cultural program throughout the week.
Further registration details will be available on the Darwin Outgames website and Facebook page.
