Picture Window – Jack Colwell and the Owls

Jack Colwell’s stunning debut album started life as an EP, but as the young classically trained composer-turned alt-pop singer’s inspiration grew, so to did the number of tracks, until he ended
up with this tidy eight-track release.

Colwell’s tender, ever-so-slightly fey voice dominates the album, sounding remarkably similar to that of contemporary Patrick Wolf. But it’s his classical training that shines brightest: opener From The Ground onwards, the songs are dramatic, string-drenched and pounding with life. Highly recommended.
